Three years after launch, Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series phones are still regarded are some of the best smartphones of all time. However, several users are now reporting that their phones have randomly started boot looping, a problem that causes devices to reboot endlessly.
In the last few weeks, an ever-increasing number of Galaxy S22 Ultra (review) have taken to social media platforms like X, Facebook, Reddit and the official Samsung forum to voice their concerns regarding the boot loop issue. While some complain about their devices stuttering, randomly crashing and freezing, others say they are unable to use their phone because it is stuck in an endless reboot cycle. The issue seems to have stemmed after the recent One UI 6.1 update, which was launched in September last year.
According to a recent report by Sammobile, multiple users approached the Samsung service center, where they were told that the problem was due to a faulty or fried motherboard. But since the Galaxy S22 Ultra is currently out of warranty, users had to spend a large sum of money to get their phones repaired.
While some users managed to temporarily fix the issue by putting their phones in the freezer for a few minutes, they noted that the phone went into boot loop once it heated up again. However, we do not recommend doing so as it may damage the phone’s internal components.
To give you a quick recap, this isn’t the first time Samsung Galaxy S22 series owners faced the issue. Last year, when Samsung started rolling out the One UI 6.1 update, several users complained about their devices failing to boot or unlock, following which Samsung had to temporarily halt the rollout. Currently, Samsung is officially yet to acknowledge or comment on the Galaxy S22 Ultra boot loop issue, so we might have to wait a while to know the root cause of the problem.
