Nothing just confirmed the camera capabilities of its upcoming Phone (3a) series, set to launch on March 4. In a release shared on Tuesday, the London-based consumer tech brand confirmed that the Phone (3a) series will feature a triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP primary wide-angle lens, a 50 MP telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide-angle sensor.
“Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3.0 harnesses elite hardware to produce professional-grade, true-to-life photography through a combination of AI tone mapping and scene detection. TrueLens Engine understands every image and tunes it to strike a classic photographic balance with next-generation computational technology,” says that brand.

Compared to the Phone (2a), the primary camera on the Phone (3a) series can capture “64 per cent more light at a pixel level meaning it has a 300 per cent greater full well capacity,” which will help the Phone (3a) to capture better depth and clarity.
Nothing has also confirmed that the Phone (3a) series will offer 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x ultra zoom, possibly on the more expensive Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. Additionally, the Phone (3a) series will support ultra HDR photo output on all four cameras, including the selfie camera. The primary wide-angle and selfie cameras will also be capable of recording videos in up to 4K resolution.
Although there isn’t much information on pricing, based on the cost of the Phone (2a) series, the new models are expected to be priced well under Rs 30,000. Notably, there aren’t many smartphones in this price range that feature a periscope zoom lens.
Compared to a regular zoom lens, a periscope lens offers higher optical zoom while maintaining a thin and lightweight design. It also provides advantages in macro photography, allowing users to capture close-up shots from a greater distance. Just a few years ago, this technology was limited to high-end smartphones like the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Pixel 9 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
