Evan Blass, a prominent smartphone leakster, in an X post, has shared a screenshot of an internal email from Nothing CEO Carl Pei, addressed to employees, that outlines the company’s ambitious plans for 2025, with a particular focus on the upcoming Nothing Phone (3), calling it a “landmark smartphone launch that the world will be very excited to see.”
In the email, Pei describes 2025 as the “biggest year yet” for Nothing, highlighting the brand’s plans to introduce the Nothing Phone (3) in the first quarter of the year. The device will feature “breakthrough innovations in user interface,” which could help the brand position Phone (3) as an AI-focused smartphone, akin to the latest iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices.
While Nothing has introduced several AI features, such as a wallpaper generator on devices like the Phone (2a), the upcoming Phone (3) is expected to deliver a comprehensive AI-driven experience. According to Pei, the Phone (3) “redefines the user experience of personal computing devices” and will include “technology that knows you, makes your life easier, and is present wherever you are.”
The email also highlights that the Phone (3) will feature AI capable of understanding and responding to context, acting as an assistant. Additionally, the smartphone will leverage AI to enhance privacy and improve user data security.
While the email does not disclose specific features or specifications, other leaks suggest the device will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 8 series chip, possibly the 8 Gen 3 or the upcoming 8s Gen 3. Furthermore, the Phone (3) could mark Nothing’s debut in offering a dedicated telephoto camera.
Nothing had a successful year in 2024, launching multiple mid-range smartphones such as the Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone (1), which gained popularity in their segments. However, there was no product launch in the premium segment during the year, and the company might finally bridge that gap with the Nothing Phone (3).
