Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series almost six months ago, but the rumour mill already has its eyes on the iPhone 17. While it is too early to speculate anything about the 2025 iPhone, some tipsters have shared renders that hint at a design shift. Ever since Apple unveiled the iPhone 11 back in 2020, we haven’t seen any significant changes to the design language except for the camera lenses, which Apple has often repositioned every once in a while.
However, according to recently shared renders of the iPhone 17 by the known tipster Majin Bu, the iPhone 17 series may ditch the squarish camera island in favour of horizontally positioned cameras. As can be seen in the X post below, the iPhone 17’s redesigned camera island looks similar to the Pixel’s iconic pill-shaped camera bar. Also, rumour has it all iPhone colourways will have the black pill shaped camera.
Jon Prosser also shared a render of the iPhone 17 on his YouTube channel FrontPageTech that shows a similar but much larger camera bar, However, this was quickly dismissed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. But despite the change in the camera arrangement, it is highly likely the iPhone 17 series will have a similar camera hardware as the iPhone 16. According to Digital Chat Station, Apple is also trying to shrink the dynamic island, which will apparently be achieved by making the components a little bit smaller.
In the last few months, rumours have repeatedly hinted at iPhone Air, a much slimmer smartphone like the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Edge. However, we recommend you to take this information with a huge grain of salt as the iPhone 17 is still more than half a year away from its official launch, and things may drastically change in the coming months..
