Asus today unveiled the Zenfone 12 Ultra, its latest flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The new phone follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with a similar design and sheds a bit of weight.
The company says the new phone gets “cutting-edge AI features” and includes support for both cloud-based and on-device AI capabilities. It has a 6.78-inch 144Hz screen AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels that can go up 1,600 nits in high brightness mode.
Like its predecessor, the Zenfone 12 Ultra has a matte glass back and is IP68 rated, meaning you can dip it in water or take it to the beach without worry. It also happens to be one of the few flagship phones to have a 3.5 audio jack with support for Dirac Virtuo for Headphones. The Zenfone 12 Ultra comes with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
On the back, you get a minimalistic camera island that sits at the top of the device. The Zenfone 12 Ultra packs a 50MP Sony Lytia 700 primary camera with a 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 4.0, a 32MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an OIS-enabled 13MP ultrawide sensor.
Asus also seems to have some handy AI features that can help you track subjects like humans or pets, customizable bokeh effects and the ability to reduce environmental noise. Talking of AI, the latest from Asus can generate transcripts, summarise articles, and documents and even translate calls in real-time. It also gets Google’s Circle to Search functionality. Asus says it is the first phone in the world that uses the Meta Llama 3 8B language model to generate summaries on the device.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra supports comes with two Nano-SIM card slots, but unlike its predecessor, users also get eSIM support. All of this is powered by a 5,500mAh battery that supports 65W wired and 15W wireless charging. It is currently available for purchase in Europe, Taiwan and Hong Kong and starts from €1,100, which roughly translates to Rs 1,00,000.
