Apple Visual Intelligence may come to the iPhone 15 Pro via Action Button | Technology News

Apple is reportedly bringing Visual Intelligence, its Google Lens-like feature, to the iPhone 15 Pro (review). Initially limited to the iPhone 16 series, the functionality allows users to point their phone’s camera at anything and get more information about it. It can also detect, translate, and summarise text and expand search with results from ChatGPT or Google.

In a blog post, John Gruber of Daring Fireball claimed that Apple representatives told him the functionality would be accessible on the iPhone 15 Pro via the Action Button “in a future software update”. To give you a quick recap, Visual Intelligence was introduced with the iPhone 16 series last year and could be used via the Camera Control button.

However, since the newly launched iPhone 16e does not include the new capacitive button, Apple changed Visual Intelligence’s trigger to the Action Button.

Gruber also said that Apple told him that Visual Intelligence will also be accessible from the Control Center on the iPhone 15 Pro and the functionality will be coming to the last gen iPhone via a software update. And while the tech giant did not clarify which update will add the feature to the older phone, Gruber says it could be bundled with iOS 18.4, which is currently in developer beta.

With the coming update, Apple Intelligence might also support more languages, but rumours suggest that the company might end up delaying advanced Siri with Onscreen Awareness.
